Desire between the sexes is not a matter of choice. Straight men, it seems, have neural circuits that prompt them to seek out women; gay men have those prompting them to seek other men. “

“Researchers have devoted considerable effort to understanding homosexuality in men and women, both for its intrinsic interest and for the light it could shed on the more usual channels of desire. Studies of twins show that homosexuality, especially among men, is quite heritable, meaning there is a genetic component to it. But since gay men have about one-fifth as many children as straight men, any gene favoring homosexuality should quickly disappear from the population.

Such genes could be retained if gay men were unusually effective protectors of their nephews and nieces, helping genes just like theirs get into future generations. But gay men make no better uncles than straight men, according to a study by Dr. Bailey. So that leaves the possibility that being gay is a byproduct of a gene that persists because it enhances fertility in other family members. Some studies have found that gay men have more relatives than straight men, particularly on their mother’s side.

But Dr. Bailey believes the effect, if real, would be more clear-cut. “Male homosexuality is evolutionarily maladaptive,” he said, noting that the phrase means only that genes favoring homosexuality cannot be favored by evolution if fewer such genes reach the next generation.

A somewhat more straightforward clue to the origin of homosexuality is the fraternal birth order effect. Two Canadian researchers, Ray Blanchard and Anthony F. Bogaert, have shown that having older brothers substantially increases the chances that a man will be gay. Older sisters don’t count, nor does it matter whether the brothers are in the house when the boy is reared.

The finding suggests that male homosexuality in these cases is caused by some event in the womb, such as “a maternal immune response to succeeding male pregnancies,” Dr. Bogaert wrote last year in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Antimale antibodies could perhaps interfere with the usual masculinization of the brain that occurs before birth, though no such antibodies have yet been detected.

The fraternal birth order effect is quite substantial. Some 15 percent of gay men can attribute their homosexuality to it, based on the assumption that 1 percent to 4 percent of men are gay, and each additional older brother increases the odds of same-sex attraction by 33 percent.”

Green tea ‘may keep HIV at bay’

“Scientists found a component called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) prevents HIV from binding to immune system cells by getting there first.

Once EGCG has bound to immune system cells there is no room for HIV to take hold in its usual fashion.

However, experts said the joint UK and US work, which appears in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, was at a very preliminary stage.

Researcher Professor Mike Williamson, of the University of Sheffield, said: “Our research shows that drinking green tea could reduce the risk of becoming infected by HIV, and could also slow down the spread of HIV.

“It is not a cure, and nor is it a safe way to avoid infection, however, we suggest that it should be used in combination with conventional medicines to improve quality of life for those infected. “

Young gay men in New York rarely using crystal meth for sex

“most of these men reported using the drug as a “treat”, twice a month or so. The same proportion of individuals said they used the drug during sex. However, only eight of the men reported first use of the drug in a sexual setting, with the majority of users saying that they took the drug in a club, bar or somebody’s home. But other men were more circumspect about the role of methamphetamine in their sexual decision-taking: “I think the risk factor’s always there”, said a 21 year-old, “and I think it’s just the human condition. So, like, yeah. I don’t think it’s caused me to be unsafe ‘cause I think clearly on Tina [methamphetamine].” Prof. Parsons, who presented the data, stressed that there was no significant relationship between the use of methamphetamine and unprotected sex, indeed he emphasised that men who did not use the drug were just as likely to report unprotected anal sex as men who did use methamphetamine. “

My beau and I are in that stage of a relationship where we have been fighting a lot, as we clarify our limits and our needs to each other. It’s been miserable at times, as such things are, but as we all know one of the only benefits of lovers fighting is the make up sex, and we have been having a TON of it.

But, he fucked me so hard the last couple of times that I’m very chafed and sore. This is a really great article that talks about one of the things that is rarely talked about – anal cleanliness in prepeation for anal sex. One of the things that has always secretly amused me, when I’m in a club, is the thought of jhow many of the men I’m looking at have carefully given themselves some kind of enema before dressing pretty to go out, because you never know, tonight might be a great night, and you want to be clean and ready to get fucked like you have never been fucked before.

I personally find that two fleet enemas (not one, one is not quite enough) work about perfectly. But use them a good half hour before you get dressed, because sometimes you have to wait a bit to get all the fluid out. YMMV. I also have a waterbag style enema system that is always ready to use, and it arguably does a better job.

If I’m careful eating, and watch my elimination schedule, sometimes an enema isn’t needed, but usually it’s not worth the risk. Buy and keep plenty of fleets in the bathroom.

There was more in the original article(altho I might not be remembering this correctly), about how the gene for attraction to men is most likely to be passed down to the youngest sons in the family. I thought this was interesting becuase I am the youngest son of a big family.

Recently, I was thinking about this genetics stuff, and it all sounds fine to me, but it seems to beg a particular question, which is “falling in love”. I’m sure we have all heard the line that being gay is not about who you have sex with, it’s about who you fall in love with.

Why do I fall in love with other men, and not with women? Women are fine to be with, I even have some sexual attraction to women, but I’ve never met a women who made me feel like I could “fall in love” with her. “…IN love”, you know, I love various women, but that magnetic mental and spiritual connection, that woozy electricity, just isn’t there.

I don’t really “trust” women. I “trust” men. (not that I really have any reason to trust men.) Is that crazy?

I finally starting to get used to the new regime at work, the “war culture” of the new company, and the things I have been having to do to keep my job. The people who were above me are gone, a lot of the old staff are gone, a lot of the output and analysis have been outsourced, and so far it looks like they are keeping me for the time being. They are putting me thru various training sessions, for which I have to travel about 400 miles and spend a few days living in a hotel, and they are paying for it all, which I doubt they would do if I was close to getting the axe.

Hey, I realize I had it too easy before. It was an easy job, the American Dream job. But the workplace just isn’t about that anymore, Temps are the future, outsourcing the way, the truth, and the light. I’m seeing this as a valuable toughening experince, something I needed to put a little armor on my back.

But, I’ve been a little lonely. Something like this really makes you think about those guys that seem to be able to find steady relationships, and to be happy with them. It makes you think, at least a bit, about ‘marriage’, about having a partner. About love.

But thinking about it makes me realize that I’m still not very comfortable with love. I think in ways I’m the stereotypical gay man – more interested in lust than in love, more interested in sex than in a relationship. (Wait a minute – that’s not just stereotypically gay, it’s stereotypically MALE. It’s exactly the same thing that I’ve heard a thousand women bitch about het men. Ha Ha! I’m not so much of a freak after all! I’m just a man.)

I’m not so sure I need a permananet lover – I just need a reliable roommate, one that I like and trust. But it probably wouldn’t work. Sex would rear it’s head, then attachment, then jealousy.

It almost makes you think the sexless marriage is a good idea.

Anyway, I’ve degenerated into a rant here. No free gay porno this entry, I’m all wrapped up in thoughts of love, the needs of the cock will have to wait, altho not long, not long at all.
