I never really understood why so many people think the Dalai Lama is so cool and spiritual. He's a political and religious leader, not a cutting edge lawbreaking mystic and explorer. Everything he says is right out of the "organized religion as politics" playbook, as far as I can tell. But, I didn't know the Dalai Lama is anti-gay, and anti-anal.
